  1. piggies tend to sneeze when they have a cold

  2. Buy a small rabbit cage which is big enough for like 4 guineas

  3. are you trying to build an ark noah?

  4. Pets at home

  5. As far as I am aware - there aer no commercial guinea pig cages on the market large enough for two piggies - most are not even big enough for one!

2 Guinea pigs need AT LEAST 7.5 - 8 sq feet of floor space, but this is the minimum and bigger is always better. If you have males this extra space is even more important to prevent fighting.

A cage needs to be large enough to contain the two piggies, at least one hidey per pig, food bowl, hay, and a couple of toys (eg tunnel to run through, cozy or cuddle cup etc). And it still needs to have enough free space left over to allow the piggies to run laps and popcorn.

Also be aware that many store bought guinea pig cages are not only too small, they are also unsuitable.

The cage MUST have a solid floor (grid floors can cause broken limbs, pododermatitis etc).

Plastic floors are best as they are easy to clean and disinfect. Wood, eg in hutches, absorbs urine so is impossible to clean properly or to disinfect - so it harbours bacteria and may smell!

As ground dwelling animals guinea pigs need their minimum space requirement on one level. Multi level cages are nice (if your piggie even uses them!) but only if the floor is big enough!

If you want to check out pet store cages try looking them up on the net first, as most websites will tell you the cage measurements. You can then calculate floor space from these. Multiply the length and width in inches, then divide the total by 144 to give you the sq footaeg.

Bear in mind that manufacturers are sneaky - they publish the external cage dimensions- not the internal, usable space. So whatever sq footage you get, remember the cage is actually going to be smaller than this.

Your best bet is to build your own c+c cage. You can build them as large as you want so you can be sure your cage is big enough.

They are really easy to build, and are much cheaper than pet stoer cages.

Check out http://www.guineapigcages.com for more info - you can even buy a c+c on the site if you don't want to do it all yourself!

  6. yes bigger stores like PetSmart should have them, i have two beautiful guinea pigs myself in a 4'x3' cage and the have pleanty of room, best things in the world. show us a picture when u get them =)

  7. my friend has a big cage for 2 guinea pigs and she bought it at pet smart.

  8. Pet stores do NOT sell cages big enough for 2 guinea pigs. Small rabbit cages are NOT enough room for 4 guinea pigs. They are small and expensive.

Try making one out of Stacking cubes and Coroplast (much cheaper). Email me if your interested in learning how to. Its called a C&C cage and I've made one for my 2 pigs. Minimum cage size for 2 pigs is 7.5sq ft.

You can tell if your pig is sick, check his/her nose, is it runny? Check the eyes, are they clear? Listen for sneezing, does it happen alot? Please get him/her to a vet if you suspect they have a cold, they can go downhill very fast.

  9. Yes, PetSmart has a plastic and metal two story cage and its green and it has wheels. Its nice and it comes with a ramp.

  10. By a big rabbit cage with the plastic tub on the bottom.  Don't get a wire bottom because they will get sores on their feet.  A rabbit cage will be big enough for two or more guinea pigs.
