  1. well if they treated him badly the poor little guy is FRIGHTENED just dont walk by his cage rly fast and slowly let him get to know u dont try picking him up right away give him a peice a romain lettuce or and fruit or veggie he can have by hand and let him no ur not gonna hurt  himand dont get him euthinized he's traumatized plz dont u did a good thing taking him just realize that he was abused so he's not trusting u yet cause ur a giant compared to him just give it some time and he will love u a lot and im sure he doesnt hate u he;s terrified

  2. how long have you had it? if it has been less than a few days, i wouldnt worry, guinea pigs are naturally skittish, nervous, quick little creatures, especially when changing homes or environments and i would thing that the abuse of your neighbors would magnify it. the little guy is just scared. un less there are physical signs such as labored breathing, limping, drainage or foggyness of the eyes, nose, mouth, etc i wouldnt worry too much. also, IF POSSIBLE try to check the front teeth gentlly. they wont eat with a broken tooth. best of luck and God Bless.

if he is in that much pain that will be chroic and it will never go away and is old, humain euthanazation might be an option. look for treatments and other possible adopters for the piggy. they r sweet when u get used to each other

  3. If the guinea pig has been abused, it will be hard for it to ever trust a human again. They are very shy creatures to start with. It also sounds like it might have mange mites. The disease can usually be cured with an experienced guinea pig veternarian.

Guinea pigs are like babies. They need a lot of attention and some of them do cry a lot. Not all people are suitable for guinea pigs. They do demand a lot of time and patience. It  may be in your best interest to advertise in the paper for another home. Please don't have the piggy put to sleep because it is not working out for you. With it's terrible past, it deserves a good loving family to finish out its life.

  4. I'm sure he doesn't hate you ..it's just the fear factor that animals exhibit.. has he been traumatized in the past..by anything?

  5. Please please please, listen to me.

The reason your pig is seizuring and doesn't want you to touch him,is because he has mange. He can be easily treated by a good vet.The mange causes much pain and suffering,as well as loss of hair, lesions on the body, dandruff and they must be treated. They will also be skinny and look neglected as the mange mites eat them alive.Mange mites are invisible. You may also see lice both static, and moving on the skin as this is common, too, in neglected, undernourished animals.all these parasites are not catchy for humans so don't worry about that.Look at this web page:

    http://www.guinealynx.info/mites.html

Please keep him, provide him with a loving home and don't expect him to warm up to you for a long time.Don't give him up-he's been thru h**l and you are his saviour.

ADDED:It sounds like this animal needs a lot of patience, care and medical treatment because he was so sadly neglected. If you really don't want him can you give him to a well-run shelter that will take him? (You should give them a donation when you bring him).

If you lived near me I would take him. What state do you live in?

  6. there is no need to pick up the pig -it's dangerous for them.  he sounds as if he's playing with you.  get rid of the cage and create a habitat where he has plenty of room to run.  provide shelter from weather and predators.  brush him every few days.

  7. it's going to take lots of time.  how long have you had him?

he's had a very rough life obviously.  yes he needs to be seen by a vet, but not to die.

honestly he is going to take lots of work and patience.  if you don't feel you are up to this challenge best to seek out a rescue that will work with him.

euthanisia is not rescueing him.  you would be taking him from a very bad situation to no situation.

he has a chance, but it needs to be with someone who has the time and patience he's going to require.
