    Habitat:

Most pet store guinea pig cages are far too small, it's best to build your own. C&C cages are cheap and easy to make: http://www.guineapigcages.com/

Remember never to use pine or cedar bedding (both are toxic), or corn cob bedding (molds and is hard on feet).

  2. Guinea pigs in the wild or the the domesticated pigs?

Domesticated pigs should get 1/4 cup of pellets fortified with vitamin c along with a vitamin C supplement and fresh water. They should get about three servings of green vegetables and only about two, one-square inch servings of fruit in a week. Their habitats' bedding should be wood, Aspen  or Pine, Aspen is best, or Care fresh bedding is okay. They should have a hide house and plenty of hay for grazing. Each pig should have 2sq feet of  space to exercise in addition to their hide house and feeding area. It's also good to take them outside for some fresh air. Guinea pigs drink about ten milliliters of water daily, unless they are getting enough fluid from the plants they eat.

Wild guinea pigs live in mountains and grassy areas in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru. They are herbivores and eat leaves, hay, grass, flowers, chickweed, meadow horse tail, and especially clover. They naturally know what to eat because of their parents and excellent sense of smell. Guinea pigs live a very strict dominance ranking: a single, dominant male serves as the head of a harem of females. They live in burrows to keep safe from predators. Of course they're not like domesticated guinea pigs. Domesticated guinea pigs were raised by the Incas in Peru for food and were brought Europe in the 1500's and sold as they were: cute, cuddly, chubby pets. They were considered the ultimate luxury. They were sold for one guinea, which was the money back then, hence the name "guinea pigs". "Pigs" because they sound and look somewhat like miniature pigs.

  3. You going to build them a spa or something?

  4. Guinea pigs need LOTS of space and room to run because the DO like to, even if they are lazy. (: Guinea pigs need you to supply them with vitamin C. I could never find a good food with lots a vit. C so my vet recomended that I give my guinea pig Tang. (The drink of astronauts lol) And if they wont drink it from a water bottle, put it in a syringe, like you give medicine to a child in and squirt it in their mouth. Guinea pigs also need fiber, feed them timothy hay. Water is a no brainer. Feed them many many fruits and veggies, (But they also DO need that fiber so feed them SOME pellet food, but more fruits and veggies overall.) And as for the bedding in the bottom of their cage, use something thats not wood shavings. Guinea pigs tend to be prone to skin irriataion and they tend to get respritory infections, shavings aggrivate both of these. Use recycled cardboard shavings or shredded paper. But if you use shredded paper you WILL HAVE TO CHANGE IT VERY OFTEN. You can buy recycled cardboard specifically for animal purposes at walmart or a pet store. Lastly your guinea pig will need lots and lots and lots of LOVE <3<3. Love them forever and if you follow all these instructions, you will have a long lived very healthy guinea pig. And if it gets a skin infection, please take it to the vet, sadly my guinea pig nearly died because I was unaware of the severity of her skin infection, one shot and 45$ at the vet and she was cured and has been healthy since.
