Question:

Guinea pig health help.

One of my guinea pigs got a scratch on his face from another guinea pig which he then kept scratching at himself and made worse.

I took him to the vet and he just said to put Betadine on it for a couple of weeks which I have been doing.

It isn’t getting much better (it isn’t getting worse though either).

Is there anything else I can do to help or just keep with the Betadine?

I hope someone can help me out.

Thanks, =]

  1. The Betadine should help to keep infections at bay. How bad was the cut? Was it a deep wound? I'd continue with the Betadine and make sure you don't see any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or pus. A 'scratch' should not take weeks to heal. Are you sure it isn't just a scab at this point? If you do think it may be an issue take your guinea pig back to the vet, it's always better safe than sorry.

  2. put flints medicated oil on it the hair will grow back

  3. go back to the vet i wouldnt want my guinea pig to die so the extra trip is owrth the money.
