I have 2 guinea pigs. They are males, and they live together, but they do not fight and they get along quite well. The youngest is a little timid and is always running away. But about 15 minutes ago my guinea pig had a MAJOR freak out! I was picking up the older guinea pig and a couple seconds later he starts running around pushing things away and knocking things down. He finally runs into his pigloo and I have a chance to pick him up and he is really scared. Once I put him with his friend he calms down a bit. But I just put him away and fed them and he is still a little scared. He has never done this before and I am scared. Please help!

  1. You know how the fourth just went by. I bet someone set of a firework. It freaks my guinea pig out too. We might not be able to hear it but they sure can. Some guinea pigs are more skiddish then others which is why the other one is okay. He probably heard the sound and was alone so he was scared. Guniea pigs in the wild will sit next to each other facing the other so they aren't afraid of something sneaking up on them. Being alone and hearing the sound probably triggered his piggy instincts of him being prey for something.

  2. Have you had him for long?...

Guinea Pigs are timid by our sizes compared to their own.

When you approach them, walk slowly and great them with Delicious food (carrots) this process takes about 3 months to regain that trust.

    Visit quite frequently and handle.

Guinea Pig's feel safe, while they're handled, in your pocket or up your sleeve.

Any questions, i would be happy to answer.

    Good Luck!
