  2. 1. I've never noticed a difference. If you clean the cage regularly, they shouldn't smell too bad.

    2. No, they should be kept in a flat plastic bottomed wire care; ones that are made for them.

    3. Every guinea pig is different, but if you spend enough time with them, they will soon become tame.

    4. They may bite, especially if you touch them after eating and not washing your hands first. The bites can hurt, as their teeth are slightly large.

    5. If they're same litter, it's safer. If you have a male and female, watch out, they may end up mating. There's always a risk having more than one, but many people do.

  3. 1- i live in a flat with three boy pigs, and they dont smell if you clean them out regularly

2-NO NO NO the poor air circulation will give them a respiritory infection and probably kill them, they need a cage with a plastic floor so they dont hurt their little feet and wire bars

3-in the wild pigs are prey animals so their natural instict is to run, my boys love to play and be cuddled but they still run when i try to catch them, but to tame them to sit and be cuddled doesnt take long, and if you buy from a breeder they are usually already tame

4- piggies rarely bite, usually only if they can smell food on you, one of my boys likes to nibble if you stop stroking him but he never breaks the skin

5- they prefer to live in pairs or groups, boys do well in pairs, girls can live with more, its best to get them from the same litter as they will stay buddies, its not advisable to get boy/girl pairings as this leads to more unwanted piggies when there are loads out there needing homes

heres  a link to a website i help run, it will answer anymore questions you may have

  4. 1. Yes. Males only smell more than females because of their special parts. If you keep their cage clean by spot cleaning and disinfecting once a week, that should keep it down. You can also buy a pet safe deodorizer at PetsMart. Males, after they go through puberty, can give off an odorous aroma if they are marking their territory or around a female.

Females tend to be more laid back. Boys are more active.. Though sows tend to urinate more often and eat more.

    2. Guinea pigs need about 2sq feet of space plus area to feed and their hide house. It's better that it's not glass so it doesn't act as a green house. Bar cages have space for ventilation. you should make a C&C cage. Below there is more information.

    3. You can get a guinea pig to trust you in about 2 weeks. More info below.

    4. Only some guinea pigs bite, but it's rare (1 in 400). They only bite out of self defense, but they can be trained not to. The bites don't hurt, more like a pinch. My guinea pig only bit me when I accidentally poked her a little hard when I was picking her up. Just handle gently. More information below.

    5. Yes you can, but make sure that you have enough time for him/her so that it doesn't get lonely. If you get two, make sure you have enough room. The two keep each other company and groom and clean each others' ears. I think that it's better to get two so that they don't get depressed. More information below. It's best to get two females. Males are most likely to fight for territory. Guinea pigs are happier in pairs, just make sure that they are the same s*x.

    Good luck, I hoped I helped. =D

  5. 1. female guinea pigs don't smell as bad as males do (the males' urine really stinks!)

    2. yes, they can be kept in a plexiglass terrarium, as long as they can breathe and you clean it often enough.

    3. it only takes a couple weeks to tame on if you play with it every day. the younger a guinea pig is when you obtain one, the faster you can tame them. (my guinea pig had babies, and the baby guinea pigs were tamed when they were only a couple days old)

    4. some guinea pigs bite more than others, and yes, it does hurt and it can cause bleeding. always be gentle with a guiea pig. if you don't want it to bite you, get a younger one and tame it quickly.

    5. no, you should always have more than one guinea pig. they are very social animals and get lonely when they're alone. make sure that you get two females, though, because two males will fight each other.

  6. 1. I don't think smell differs between males and females, and only their cage smalls if you don't clean it enough.

    2. Well, it's not the best...the best cages are C&C cages which are easy to build. The main thing about guinea pig cages is they need to be really big and have very good ventilation.

    3. Not very long, and its easier to tame a young one. Just spend a lot of time with it.

    4. Don't hurt it and it will not hurt you. Their bites don't hurt too bad if they do bite you though.

    5. NO, guinea pigs are herd animals and NEED to eb kept in groups of atleast 2 or more same s*x!

  7. 1. They will only smell if you keep the cage clean. It depends on how large the cage is, but it needs to be cleaned at least 1 time a week, probably more like 2-3 times.

    2. No. Guinea pigs need a lot of space in their cage (at leave 7.5 square feet for 1, more like 10 sq. feet for 2)

    3. They are fairly tame animals, but they will need some time to get used to you.

    4. They will only bite if they are scared or angry. If you handle them gently and calmly, they will not bite.

    5. It's possible for you to have just 1, but they are much happier with at least 1 friend. It's not much more for 2 than 1.

When you get your guinea pig, consider adopting from a shelter. Shelters are often very overloaded, with many animals being killed to make space. Adopting animals from a shelter helps to alleviate this problem.
