  1. Don't try to force them to go for a walk or wear a harness-they are very fragile animals and are easily injured. Also, there is no reason why they should need to have a harness anyways-you playing with your pet everyday is the only exercise they need as long as they have plenty of room in their cage(s) and a lot of toys :)

  2. DO NOT PUT A LEASH ON YOUR PIGGIE!!! Guinea pigs are not built to be put on a leash. You could seriously injure their back. And they could get really really scared and possibly go into shock. Piggies, unless very young, are not very active animals, so there is no need for a leash at all. I consider putting a leash on a piggie cruel. If you're taking out of their cage, just put a small fence around the area where they will be if you're not holding them. You can buy these at any pet sore. But please, under ANY circumstance, DO NOT put a leash on your piggies.

  3. Maybe try putting leaves of lettuce or alfalfa around the area that you intend to have them leashed on?  I know they love that stuff.

Personally, I've had bad experiences with guinea pigs leashed, as mine hated it and squirmed out of it.  We're lucky we caught him!

  4. If you have a strap type that is like a jacket, it might just be afraid.  It will be okay.  Just do that everyday and it will get used to it.

  5. just carry him around in one of those bags made for small dogs

  6. i have one too... those are made real tight. I would suggest playin g with ur pig in a living room or something. (smile) hope this helps

  7. Do NOT put your guinea pig on a leash under any circumstances! Guinea pig's backs are very fragile and built in such a way that putting a harness and leash on it can easily hurt it's back. They can be seriously injured by the leashes, even paralyzed. The same goes for exercise wheels and exercise balls, they are highly dangerous for guinea pigs!
