It looks like it is dragging it's butt across the floor for like 2 seconds.

What does this mean?

  1. Your guinea pig is a female? Then she might be pregnant!

  2. It may be worms have him/her checked.

  3. it is extremely rare for a piggie to get worms. if it is a male pig then he is simply marking his territory, as the scent gland is located on their butt.

  4. There are several possible explanations:

One is that she is simply itchy. She may have an itch, and rubbing her butt on the floor releives it. If she doesn't do this again, she probably did just have an itch.

Another is fleas or mites. If there is a colony of mites on her behind, it will drive her crazy, and rubbing her butt on the floor is the only way she can temporarily relieve the pain and itchiness. Check her for mites or fleas. If she has them, bathe her in mite/flea removal shampoo FOR guinea pigs!

Another could be worms. Get her checked at the vet to determine if she has worms or not.

Another reason could be that she has a bowel problem. If there is something wrong with her defecating (pooing) ability, the poo can become stuck on her bum. This can really annoy her, so she's trying to wipe it off via the floor. Check to see if there are any lumps or faeces stuck to the fur on her behind. If there is, cut the hair above it off (so the thing falls off) and take her to the vet. The vet will know what is causing it and can give her treatment.

If I am wrong and she is a he, then he may be marking his territory. Male guinea pigs (boars) have scent glands on their cheeks and bum. By rubbing these against things, he is leaving his scent and therefore marking his territory.

    Good luck. =)
