Guinea pig urine scald?

i have a healthy plump girl piggy but today while giving her a bath i noticed that her downstairs was swollen and her hair in that area had a yellow tinge to it. i looked it up and it looks similar to this

what can i do to help her and prevent this from happening to her and her sister? im going to take her to the vet asap but is this easily treatable?

  1. Urine scald is pretty easily cleared up. However, there's usually an underlying cause to it. Probably an Urinary Tract Infection is the culprit. Guinea pigs often get UTI's because they are so low to the ground. UTI's are treatable with antibiotics. The vet will be able to help you there. Pigs require specific antibiotics though.  Not all vets are pig knowledgable. Print this list out and take it with you to the vet. If you pig is long haired, I'd suggest keeping her rear hair clipped to help keep her dry in the future.
