  1. Sounds like so far your doing great! I would keep up with the hand feeding, and try talking to them as much as possible. It took my first pig about 3-4 wks to get used to me and since then she's been my best buddy. Her cagepartener however took a little bit longer, but they are both the sweetest little things now. Good luck!

  2. youd do best to separate them a bit then you could spend special time with the one thats most scared

  3. dont give either of them 2 much attention because they need to get used to their surroundings

  4. do the same thing over untill its ready

  5. Your guinea pig honestly won't mind that you're petting the other, and certainly won't be upset with you. He may get jealous, but if he's feeling jealous he'll come up to you and allow him to pet you. I promise you, he won't suffer silently! It actually may help him realize you're not going to hurt him if he sees you petting his friend without any problems.

  6. When i got my first 2 that's how they were. One was nice and really friendly. the other was scared. What i did is i kept opening the cage door and giving them treats. And petting them. But i would pet the one that was scared a little bit more so he could get use to me and see I couldn't hurt him. You could also separate the scared one from the other and do a little 1-on-1 bonding time. Unless your not comfortable picking them up yet.

  7. I would let one out of the cage and explore and watch it and than the other one you should just hold and pet it and than do that for the one who is more scared for more than the one who already loves you alot!

    Good Luck!

  8. Don't worry about it, some guinea pigs are more timid than others, try this. Spend like an hour with one piggie and then put it back in its cage and then spend an hour with the other one, just trying to get to know it. And then spend an hour with them together. Chances are when the timid one sees the bolder being more friendly with you it will pluck up the courage to interact with you. All guinea pigs have different personalities. Also where did you pet it? If you pet it on its back it probably just wasn't expecting if. Generally piggies prefer to be pet nearer to their face. And they prefer to pet when your holding them on yoru laps. I love to sit there and watch TV with one if my guinea pigs on my laps. They usually settle right down, and will sit there letting you pet them. Also never approach a piggie from above. It scares them. See a guinea pigs eyes are set high on its head, and in the wild their main predator is wilds, like hawks and things, if you thing about a human hand reaching down to grab them looks a lot like a birds talon and so they will be instinctively scared.

You other piggie probably won't even notice how much time you spend with the timider one.

Good luck with your new piggies :)

  9. Guinea pigs are so easily scared, its was probably not even your fault. I've had my guinea pig for about 1 n a half years now and he still gets scared! lol and I only have one so he gets plenty of attention.  What you should do is spend more time with them both so they can still get used to you. and remember when they are walking around on the floor, YOU try not to walk around them as much, because you look like a loud walking giant to them. Another thing is to limit loud noises. Their ears are very sensitive.

    hope this helps!
