Guinness Style wins against the 5/2 favourite Farleyhillian at Hove on 21st December
Guinness Style, trained by Seamus Cahill, has been racing since July 2010, and posted his second consecutive victory at Hove on 21st December, after winning a Grade A2 at about 515 meters, at Hove, on 3rd December. He accomplished this victory by defeating the 2 to 1 joint favourite, Don Henry, by a mere head’s difference.
The next two races that fell in between the two races at Hove, led to Guinness Style coming fourth and then fifth. He posted two back to back victories, as the first came on 29th October and his second win on 2nd November, after which he has not been able to win consecutive races.
Guinness Style was awarded the £129 prize money after he finished the track distance in 30.53 seconds. It was a crowded field as the first four were at a distance, ranging from a neck to ¾ of a length.
The runner-up of the race, Big Heat, was rushing behind Seamus Cahill’s dog, only a shoulder away. Thus, with such close competition, K Tester’s hound took the same time as the winner to cross the wire.
The third in line after the runner up was Farleyhillian, who also missed the prior position by a mere margin of a neck, making it to the wire in 30.56 seconds.
The third position holder was the 5 to 2 favourite for the race, entered by W Wrighting, who had also entered Killahara Joker.
Killahara Joker managed to finish the race in 30.62 seconds, by a measly provision of ¾ of a length. Both the hounds could not achieve what they were actually sent for.
The winning trainer’s other entry, Ayamzalady, could only muster up a fifth position behind her kennel mate and the favourite of the race, Farleyhillian.
Seamus Cahill’s trainee made it to the other end of the wire in 30.74 seconds, instantly followed by J Gammon trained Fabulous Affair.
Being the last hound on the race track, Gammon’s trainee finished the affair in 30.82 seconds.
The favourite, Farleyhillian, has not won since 23rd September, failing in nine races since then.
Farleyhillian’s rankings in the last nine races range from sixth to third, and the dog has been consistently racing at Hove for a while, but has been highly unpredictable with his performances over the last two to three months.
