Guitar Distortion Help?

What are some popular guitar distortion settings? I'm using a Vx DA5 Amp, which has some effects and tones built in. I have no idea what "higain" and "crunch" is. I want a real good metal sound, but I have no idea what to do

  1. If you wanna make ur solos sound great u should turn the hi gain all the way up and the crunch around level 3 or 4ish and if u have a mid k**b and a treb k**b turn those to a 4 to make it have a sort of echo/loud sound to it

  2. Pump the volume loud and press the hi-gain button or turn the k**b. Crunch is some c**p that does some crackly effect or something.

You could also read the users manual:)

  3. Buy a Boss MT-2

    you wont be disappointed

  4. Hi gain is exactly that. Hi gain, meaning lots of distortion.  Crunch is generally a term used for mid-level gain.  Hi Gain would be a better selection for metal.

I also found no listing for a Vx DA5 amp.  Did you mean Vox? If so, check out the Vox website and download the manual.

  5. Turn them both all the way up, and use the volume to keep from blowing your ears out.
