Question:

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for Nintendo Wii

by  |  earlier

Is it worth the money? Is it a good game that will keep me entertained for months, maybe years, and not just a few days (or for a few minutes like Battle of the Bands!)? So in general is it a good game?

Any comments or tips you have to say about the game, I would love to hear them!

Thanks! x

    Hints

    Hammering on and pulling off:

Hammering On and Pulling Off happens when you can strum on one note and successfully hit the notes that come after it without using the strum bar. Look for the single notes with white rings on top instead of black rings. As long as you hit the previous note, you can hit the next note by pressing the correct fret button. This is especially useful on songs like Cult of Personality under the Hard difficulty setting.

    Easy battle power survival

When in a battle (either online or in Career mode), if you are playing against your opponent under the same difficultly setting, when they attack you with their battle power, look at their side of the screen. The notes will be the same and easy to see.

Easy "Through The Fire And Flames"

On "Through The Fire And Flames", before you use Star Power, pause Game Play. Hold Select  PlayStation2    PlayStation3  or Back  Xbox 360  , and resume game play. By doing this, you will not miss as many notes if you are going for a "Five Star" rank.

    Wecllh

In the Through The Fire And Flames introduction, before you start wrap a rubber band around Green. By doing this, you will not have to worry about holding Green; it does it for you. Make sure you press the other buttons quickly so that Green can register. If you hold the buttons as you do the hammer-ons, Green will not register, and you will fail.

    Iron Maiden reference

"22 Acadia Avenue" is a song name by the band Iron Maiden. You can see this in the first venue of Career mode.

    Cosme Gonzalez

    Predator reference

There is a reference to the movie Predator in the song "Helicopter". After playing the song, go to the "More Stats" screen, or to Practice mode and get to the screen where you choose what section to play. One of the sections in the song is called "Get Back To The Choppa!!!" which seems to be a reference to Arnold Schwarzenneger's line in Predator, when they are all running away from the Predator.

    Troubleshooting the whammy bar

Try the following steps if your whammy bar does not work.

    Travis Hamm

First, try calibrating the whammy bar. Go to "Options" at the main menu. Go to "Guitar", then to "Calibrate Whammy". Use your whammy bar a few times. If the drawing does not show a complete skeleton of the man pointing down at the woman, leave your whammy bar at its resting place (when not in use) then press Green. Use your whammy bar again. If it shows a complete picture, you are done. If it does not show a complete picture, proceed with the next method.

If the above resolution does not work, go to the "Home" menu. Go to "Wii Remote Settings". Then, go to "Reconnect". Press 1 + 2. Do not touch the whammy bar while doing this/ Your Wiimote should be reconnected and your whammy bar should work.

    Alternate controls

When using as a Wiimote as a second controller, press the following buttons to emulate a guitar controller.

    Green: Press B.

    Red: Press Right.

    Yellow: Press A.

    Blue: Press 1.

    Orange: Press 2.

  4. If you have a  different system like 360 or ps3 get it for either of those.

Guitar hero for the wii is mono in sound. (which means only one speaker will produce sound)

  5. definitly u want to buy it

  6. it's pretty cool but guitar hero 2 is a lot better : ) so if you have either a ps2 or a 360 get guitar hero 2 because it rocks : )

    hey josh what are pouns?

  7. Hold out for the newest one that will mimic and be far better than rockband. you will have to get a new guitar for that one anyways so better just to save your money.

  8. It's really good. Depends of what kind of person you are. Its a game for challenges. If you like that, then you should buy it. First I use to suck, but now I play on hard mode now. It's challenging.

  9. Definately will last a long time, it has great songs, you actually feel like a rock star playing it, it also has online play.

If you can wait a couple of months they are coming out with Guitar Hero World Tour, it is going to have DLC, create your own rocker, create your own songs, and they have confirmed some songs that are going to be fun to play.

  10. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for Nintendo Wii  = totally sweet. well worth the money. the game is on sale and has dropped in price to below 40 pouns with guitar! i got the game last month and its the best wii game i own.!

  11. If your pretty good at it it is very addicting!

    Its HARD to play!!!

  12. NO!! i have it im soo sick of it its boring now!!! i wouldnt get it!

  13. depends what kind of person you are.

    it is for me

  14. It is an awesome game!

  15. it is sweet it's just like guitar hero 1 and i've been playing that game for a year now

  16. i have Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock for Xbox 360 and its great! its fairly entertaining and great to play with a bunch of friends... great party pleaser lol everyone loves guitar hero.

  17. i got it on the wii and i played it straight for about 2months straight. and now i generally play it 2 or 3 times a week but haven't played it in a while but thats due to resident evil 4.

BUT!!!! guitar hero 4 comes out soon and it will be 10x better because you can sing and drum, plus it has a feature where you can make your own tracks. so i'd be a bit more patient and wait for the release ;)

  18. i never actually liked the Rock Bands/Guitar Hero games. not really worth it after you buy the game and all the eqiupment. I'm a musician, so if i wanna play music, i'll just hop on my $3,000 Pearl Drums set with Zildjian and Sabian Cymbols :-D
