  1. uhm get either a nylon, tortex, or acetal pick. each has a pro and con. get their medium thickness and go up or down depending on what you like best. if you cant decide just stick medium. nylons have the best grip, tortexs are kinda average, and acetal is the most durable

  2. I personally like to use Heavy picks because you tend to go faster. I remember when I first started I used medium size and then I went up to heavy because the pic does not bend as much so in turn you can go faster. It also really depends on the type of music you play. Each size pick gives you different sounds because of the amount vibration from the string. I would not ever get Fender picks that are almost transparent because when you play for a long time you tend to sweat and those picks can get really slippery if you know what I mean. I love tortex and ones that look like they are dull. I would recommend tortex. They might be a little more but well worth it. Hope this helps. Hit me up if you have any more questions. I have been playing for 11 years and be more than willing to answer more of these questions.

  3. go by feel, everybody is different; go to the guitar shop and play several different types and thicknesses. I prefer Tortex Dunlop 1.14mm

  4. The thicker the pick, the more volume and to a point the better the tone. Common materials include: plastic, nylon, tortex.

Some people say plastic or nylon picks sound too "clicky" and brittle, where as tortex picks seem to have a darker tone, with almost no "click" but still has the same presence you get from plastic, nylon or metal.

    hope i helped ! (:
