Question:

Guitar advice for a beginner?

I want to play a guitar, an acoustic guitar to be specific. But if any veteran guitar players can give me some starters, that would be great. The most common thing I heard so far was the pain in strumming, and how easy it is to quit in the beginning. Thanks for any advice.

  1. listen.

the chords.. you will have to follow and get them right.

the strumming not. everyone should create their own strumming.

i mean why would you wanna follow someone's elses?

we all want to hear different kinds of music.

we dont wanna hear millions of people playing their songs and going up down up down. we want different kinds of strummings.

so the strumming really does not matter that much. just make your own. and make sure it says rhythmical.

  2. It's tough in the beginning for most, but once you get the basics down and start learning strumming chords you'll be fine. :-)

With private one-on-one lessons you'll definitely be on the right track. I've been taking lessons form 3 1/2 years (and went through some crappy teachers before that).

  3. 1. Get a good teacher

    2. Make sure you make the piece come alive.

    3. Play all the embellishments, and really follow the song
