Guitar advice please?

Question

This will be my first guitar and I've decided I want an electric one!

Can anyone give me advice on the best one to buy? I've seen a Fender Starcaster for £200. Is this a good one or not?

If it's a new Starcaster, you will be paying twice what's it worth. They are going for $199 in the States.  If it's an older or vintage Starcaster, you are getting a heck of a deal.  The older Starcasters are hollow-bodied electrics and don't look anything like a Stratocaster.  The new one's look exactly like a Strat and are pretty good guitars for the money.  Just don't overpay.

i have a fender strat too.

its pretty cool.

i also have a les paul but personally i like the fender better.

it has a better sound and is more light-weight.
