Guitar amp high pitched noise, no sound?

I just purchased a Marshall MG 100 HDFX / DFX combo amp yesterday. I am using an Ibanez GIO electric guitar.

When i brought it over to a friends house, it worked perfectly, but when i brought it home, the guitar wouldn't get through to the amp, i just kept getting this high frequency sound whenever i turned the volume on the amp up.

Make sure the jacks are tight, otherwise take it back for a refund or exchange since you recently bought it.
