Question:

Guitar amp?

I am about to buy a new guitar amp and was thinking about what to do with my old one, when a friend of mine (who plays bass) told me how he needed a new amp. Now I'm wondering can a bassist plug in their bass to a guitar amp or is there a specific amp only for basses.

  1. some amps an handle it, but if your giving it away, or considering getting rid of it its probably a smaller amp right? 50w or 75w max?   i dont think that the amp will handle a bass, maybe a few times, but not after too much play.... i would figure out something else to do with it,  or keeping it as a backup...

  2. they are all the same he just has to adjust the bass level on his amp

  3. yes a bass amp is seperate because its a sub woofer. Most guitar amps are like a tweeter. You can try it out but its gonna sound Raunchy. Maybe take the gain up to give the bass more BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Any amp can be used for any instrument I play my bass threw Marshall guitar amps it works great.

  5. The dude can use it but it's better to have a huge Ampeg bass amp.

When you get a new amp, get a tube amp.

  6. your friend can use it

  7. There is a specific amp for basses, but a guitar amp will do just fine. Yes, you can plug your guitar into the bass amp.
