ok... i was just wondering if there is a limit to which fret i can put my capo on... you see, i wrote a song using my capo on 7th fret. i know the chords without using the capo, but i feel more comfortable playing the song with my capo.

so is putting my capo on 6th or 7th fret+ to high?

  1. It's not too high but you might want to consider playing the song in the same key but in a different fingering at some other place on the fretboard.

  2. no it's not too high... there are songs out there that use capos on the 10 fret, and so on so forth. For example, in the John Mayer song, 3x5, he uses a capo on the 8th fret for his chords sometimes. Pete Murray also has songs that he uses  a capo on the 9th fret. I've never seen anybody use a capo past the 10th, so i'm gussing that's the limit. But as long as you're comfortable using you're capo up there, then use it!!! :)

  3. It's only too high once you get really really high and the guitar neck starts to get thicker where it attaches to the body. Once you get there, the capo won't fit.
