Guitar clear coat help please?

i have a cheap squier strat that i had a bunch of friends sign with a silver sharpie for memories turned out great but i'm scared to play it because i think it might rub off

what should i put to make it last(preferably forever)

oh yeah they also signed the neck and fretboard

  1. Well, you can use an epoxy resin or a coat of polyurethane but if you want to keep playing the guitar, remove the strings and spray it with layer of clear coat ( a clear spray paint), let dry & repeat. When it's dry, replace the strings.

    Don't try to get any one coat too thick or you will get drips. Several light coats are best.

    Also, you will have the choice of matte or gloss clear coats, decide which you want beforehand. In my opinion, gloss will look better on a guitar.
