I would say he has his fingers underneath the strings holding up the guitar.

What he is doing is getting a natural harmonic on a string (most likely 5th fret G string) and he is pulling the whammy bar up.  Dimebag Darrell used this alot in his songs

Its a pinch harmonic with the whammy bar not a natural harmonic I do that all the time in my songs.
