No you can use the PS2 controller if you want to, but the experience isn't the same. Get a guitar, it's WAY more fun that way

No, you can use the controller, but the guitar is so much easier. I've used the controller before and I didn't like it very much, but on the other hand, it is useful for when I don't feel like getting up and trying to play really good.

No, you can play using a normal PS2 controller, but it's pretty hard and not nearly as fun as using the guitar controller.
