Guitar left hand nails?

i have 0mm of flesh past my nails(if anything still 1mm of nails is still past my flesh) when i cut them the shortest possble. is this still ok to play guitar? my nails are very big and hard

  1. I don't think it would matter, depending on what songs you play.  my guitar teacher had around an inch long nails (past the flesh) and he did a lot of different types of songs.  I myself keep mine shorter, so I have more rounded finger


  2. You do not have to remove your nails completely. You still need some nail to do pull-off. Otherwise, you will have difficulty with that technique.

    Just keep them short and 1 mm is ok and has to be past your flesh.
