Guitar not working in Guitar Hero? (PS3)?

Hi. This is a little confusing, I apologize. Just try and keep up. I just bought my brother a guitar for Guitar Hero. It is a PS3 guitar, and he has a PS3. However, the only game the guitar works with is the PS3 game "Aerosmith" edition Guitar Hero. It does not work for the Playstation 2 Guitar Hero games. He has a PS2 guitar, though, but it does not work for the PS3. Does this mean he cannot play any of the PS2 Guitar Heros with a guitar on the ps3?

if u r gonna play guitar hero 3 ps2 on ps3 u still have 2 have a ps2 guitar.i guess u haf 2 play guitar hero on the PS2,sorry
