  1. Hey Ryan

As a guitar player, I use 4 of them while others use 100 at a time which is stupid.

I use a digital delay, chorus, flanger and distortion. The digital delay and distortion is good for finger tapping and if you ad the chorus to it, you get the Van halen sound pretty well.

These are the basic and mostly used. I am planning to get the acoustic pedal sound which is very mind-blowing. The acoustic sound is mre real than the real thing.

  2. i've gone through a bunch of single effect pedals, and now all i really use is 3 pedals.

    Boss DD-6 Digital delay

    Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter

and a wah pedal. either a morley or dunlop crybaby.

i use the distortion from the amp (marshall amp).

if i'm playing out of anything other than a marshall, i usually use a distortion pedal like

    Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion

    or Boss Mega Distortion.

the delay is my favorite. so many ways to use it. i especially like using a Ebow with a delay. google that.

if you have a small 8 inch speaker amplifier, it may be hard to hear the full effect and quality of the effect pedal. when you're trying them out and considering buying one, try it on both your amplifier and one that's bigger if yours is small (8inch speaker). also, try out the pedal with the guitar you use (as in YOUR guitar). guitar pickups will slightly affect your sound on an effect pedal.
