Guitar question how do they get this sound in the intro?

im writing a song and the way it is played is similar to tthe guitar intro in underoath writings on the wall. i dont know how to get that sound on my guitar? listen to it on youtube. search it.

Its just a little distortion in it. If you have an amp turn up the gain part of it till it gets distorted.
