Question:

Guitar solos?

Alright, well I've been playing the guitar for about 7 months now, and I think I'm good enough and wanted to start soloing. My teacher taught me the Stairway to Heaven solo, and I can play that fairly well. Recently though, I've been trying to look for another challenging, but not too difficult, solo i can learn. Any suggestions? I love music in general so it can be classic rock, death metal, alternative, jazz, w/e.

  1. Most people think Zeppelin is hard to learn, especially at first, but if you already know "Stairway" then try "The Ocean" or "Achilles Last Stand" both electric guitars

  2. www.ultimate-guitar.com has some good tabs. Paramore is has some pretty easy stuff. The solo for Brighter, and the whole song in general is a lot of fun :) As long as you can read tabs you'll do fine.

  3. Try Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Simple man is easy

  4. Try a solo from "set me free" by Velvet Revolver or "What we're all about (original)" by sum 41. Both are electric guitar. Some Nickelback songs MAY have acoustic solos, but i'm not sure.

  5. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen, Malmsteen was 17 years old when he became famous. Jeff Waters, Gary Moore, and David Gilmour try some of their solos.

  6. Do you know your scales, major,minor  etc?   if so you could try to figure out some easy solo's.   or download some blues backing tracks and come up with your own licks.  You'll learn more that way.   You shook me all night long is a good one to try and figure out.

  7. Good solos to learn are, for ear and fingering practice are Reeling in the years (Steely Dan);

    Hotel California (Eagles)

    Killer Queen (Queen)

    All quite difficult as a medium guitar player, but oh so satisfying. Keep up the good work

  8. a band you may know - 'muse'. while some of their solos are quite hard, they are not of the yngwie malmsteen or joe satriani kind of length or difficulty, but they do sound very cool. i would seriously suggest checking them out because they have so many songs, and nearly all of them have a great solo
