Guitar tabs for beginners...?

Question

So I'm basically teaching myself to play the (acoustic) guitar until I get a teacher. Does anyone know of any good sites to get some easy tabs for a beginner like me?

What kind of music do you want to play?  There are some big sites like http://www.tabcrawler.com that have some of everything, but there are some smaller ones like http://www.tabcountry.com (country music) that cater to more specific genres.  Others cater to specific artists - http://www3.sympatico.ca/g403z/ for example, has almost every song in John Mayer's catalogue tabbed out and includes videos.  

If you are just learning, one of your first real challenges will be barre chords.  If you start working on these now they will make your hands stronger (they take a very long time to figure out - stick with it).  Jack Johnson songs are fairly simple, sound good on acoustic, and will give you lots of practice.  These songs are common on lots of tab sites.  

You might also look for basic lessons on http://www.youtube.com  These can be excellent for helping you figure out how your fingers should look, and you can pick up some fun techniques.  Guitar takes many years to learn, so don't get discouraged if you can't play things.  No one starts out as a great player!  

Remember to always practice in tune, and start practicing pentatonic (blues) scales now, because these scales will be one of the first things you practice during lessons.  You can find them here:  http://guitarsphere.com/archives/categor...
