Question:

Guitar wiring, simple job?

I need to wire a single coil pickup to a volume control, then to an out put, I am not very skilled with electronics (yet) and making my first electric guitar.

Help please!!!!!

  1. This is all about taking your time.  If you have your wiring guide, be sure you understand it completely.  It is much better to be slow and get it right, that to rush and s***w it up.  Make sure your wires do not cross.  Even a single strand of wire can short out the connection.  Twist the ends of each connection very tight.  When using the soldering iron, do not apply it until it is fully heated.  Heat the wires themselves and let the solder melt over them.  Do not just melt the solder and let it drip on the connections.  The connection must be heated.  Be sure not to hold it too long or you could damage the pickup or the control.  As long as you take it easy, it should be fine.  Did a rewire on a guitar myself recently and I haven't done any of that in years.  Works like a charm.  Good luck.
