  1. Guitar hero is a great tool for musicians (particularly guitarists).

It helps by focusing on hand coordination  (did i spell that right?). Yes, I know the Green, Red, Blue, orange, yellow buttons are not the same as frets, but the fact that your practicing aiming your finger to land at a certain spot is helpful.

It also helps with staying on tempo with a band (all though it's just a game band). Let's say you lose yourself in the song, the band keeps going just like in a real concert and you have to jump back in there and get in synch with them.

The last thing that can help in your guitar skills is picking. I use a 2.0 or 1.5 mil pick when playing guitar hero. and i do down and up strokes. keeps my right hand in shape. the 2.0mil (or 1.5) works better at triggering the guitar (for the game) than a regular medium gauge pick does.

I don't believe guitar hero makes it easier for a beginner to learn real guitar. But it can be used as a tool for people who already have a basic concept of guitar.

Guitar hero will not improve your music theory, but it will help as an exercise technique for the hands. Don't use this as your only exercise technique though...

  2. Yes! Real guitarists do play Guitar Hero and they're really good at it.

I play Guitar Hero III & Rock the 80's

  3. I do. Its a good finger exercise, which helps me with my finger endurance.

  4. I like guitar hero because i can play the whole song without actually learning it and its fun. It also helps with rythm and finger control.

  5. If there was such a person then it would make me wonder why.

  6. My step brother plays guitar and he can barely play guitar hero.... I myself play the bass and find it quite easy i don't know you make the connection.

  7. im a guitarist and im cool on guitar hero.......why? freebird is awesome, and carry on my wayward son!!!

ps playing guitar hero and playing a real guitar are 2 totally different skills!!!

  8. im a guitarist and i dont play guitar hero. i think its stupid, if all the people that bought Guitar  Hero would have bought a real guitar and stuck with it there would really be some great music in the future. the same goes for rock band

  9. Hey, I asked this a while back! I play acoustic guitar and I have played Guitar Hero once and found it really frustrating that you have to hit the note spot on, there is no room for creativity as you would use with a real guitar.

  10. me.

I play guitar hero for sheer fun, but it's nothing like playing actual guitar.

there's a video of scott ian from anthrax playing madhouse on youtube and he fails. case and point.

  11. I play guitar and i use this to introduce my 7 year old to playing. He hasnt got the brains or patience to learn properly yet.

  12. I don't like it. People just like it because it makes them seem good but when really their not. Also i hate button mashing games. I got like 90% on expert freebird first time playing the game. It is just a waste of time. Can't compare to guitar but i like singing or rock band because its pisses people off because i go hard core into it. LOL

Also poeple say its good training but they can't compare their two different things

  13. my husband and son, both very good at the both types, they play rock band to chill and spend time together
