  1. Electric is better for a beginner. The strings don't need to be pressed as hard and it's more fun because of all the effects you can get out of it. I'd suggest getting a second hand ax at a pawn shop, something that feels right in your hands and a small amp. Take some lessons and play what you like, often. Practice is the most important thing, after having fun of course. Good luck with it!

  2. ASk your music teacher at school for advice.

  3. You should definitely learn acoustic first, seeing as you aren't Jimi Hendrix or anything. Acoustic helps you get ready for electric. If you're going to learn guitar, the first thing you need to do is find a dependable place that sells great guitars and teaches valuable guitar lessons. Tip: Cheap lessons are always unreliable because you get so little for the money. After you've found a great place to start, go buy an acoustic guitar. When you have the guitar don't immediately jump into lessons, don't be hasty. Go to friends or family you know that play guitar and or bass, get some extra tips.It helps in the long run. Now, that you have the guitar and the tips, go arrange a meeting with a guitar teacher. Set a date for practice and you're set.

Now, what you need to know about the extra equipment.

Guitar Strap- The strap that helps you hold the guitar better.

    Amp- Your speaker basically.

Peddle- Kinda like the whammy bar on Guitar Hero, it's the thing that makes the distortion.

    Strings- Your strings

Pick- You play guitar with this.

Gig Bag- thing you carry the instrument and extra stuff in. Like beer :D

Those are the basic things you need to operate a guitar.

When you start looking at electric guitars and you're a beginner, you need the store clerk to help you pick one out. Don't choose a guitar because of its color or look. Choose a guitar based on quality, comfort, and price. Based on this criteria, here's a list of guitar brands you should look into:

    Epiphone

    Squire

    Kramer

    Takamine

    Ibanez

I hope you find what you're looking for. If you need any other guitar prices and tips, go to: guitarcenter.com, they helped me pick out my first bass.

  4. Well, that's funny because actually, most people will agree with me, that an acoustic is harder to play than an electric.

Acoustic guitars are bulkier, and you have to press a lot harder on the fret board to get the string to make the right sound.

don't get me wrong, i love acoustics, but if you are a beginner, just get yourself a cheap electric. and if it seems like something you really enjoy, go get a stratocaster, or a les paul, or an ibenez.
