http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 Stadium in Valsad, from December 22 to 25.
Punjab won the toss and chose to field first, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jesal-Balibhai-Karia-c66933 (40), and Rush Kalaria (40) putting in average contributions, to take their team up to a first innings total of 266, after which they were all out.
The match remained somewhat equally balanced as Punjab put forth a similar batting performance, despite the restrictions imposed by Gujarat’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mayank-Sidhana-c75436 (50) all chipped in with solid scores, and Punjab managed to reach a first innings total of 268 after which they were all out.
Punjab then attempted to make up for the inability to gain a substantial lead by launching a fierce bowling attack during Gujarat’s second turn at bat. All four bowlers in the attack succeeded in claiming at least one wicket each, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 (31) were the only other batsmen who managed to put up a fight. The rest either failed to convert their starts into solid scores, or were unable to surpass single-digit scores in the first place, and Gujarat were eventually all out for 232.
The subsequent 231-run chase appeared achievable enough, but Punjab found themselves unequal to the challenge. Gujarat’s Dhurv (19.5-3-76-5) and Kalaria (13-5-38-3) applied effective checks on the opposition’s batsmen, and managed to keep them out of range of the target. Mandeep Singh’s 42 was the highest score during the innings, while Ladda (35*) and Gurkeerat Singh (30) were the only other batsmen who managed to put up a fight. The rest crumbled without offering much resistance, and Punjab were eventually bowled for 193, with Gujarat securing a 37-run victory.
