Gullinbursti – Performance Review - 2012
Gullinbursti has been in horseracing for almost a couple of years now and his performances have been really good until now. He has appeared in some selective events and his team will be hoping that he gets in a position to challenge the best in the business
at the highest level of the sport.
However, the talented runner has been unable to deliver winning results during the ongoing season until now. He came close to victory on a couple of times, but his speed was not enough to help him attain glory.
The six-year-old gelding debuted in December 2010 and appeared in just one race that year. He was not given a very good starting price, as the bookies expected him to struggle to some extent. There were no surprises from him in the end, as he had to settle
for seventh place overall.
After training hard for a couple of more months, the Emma Lavelle’s trainee made a strong comeback in racing with a runner up place finish in only his second outing. He was unable to challenge the race winner back then, but the result was quite pleasing
for his team.
His next encounter was also not an easy one and the bookmakers did not price him highly. However, he proved some of his critics wrong and brought up the maiden victory of his career comfortably.
The N. Mustoe’s owned stallion did not look back from then onwards and won a couple of more events, completing a hat-trick of victories in the sport. In 2011, he appeared in four events, winning three of them whereas finished as a runner up once.
This clearly proved what he was capable of achieving and there were high hopes from him during the ongoing season. However, he seems to have lost the winning touch and is finding it hard to regain the confidence he had last year.
Milan’s son secured a couple of back-to-back runner up positions at the start of the year and then followed that up with a lacklustre show at Aintree in a Grade 1 contest. He finished seventh it, but will be hoping to improve his performances in the near
future.
