Gullivers Sports Travel to co-sponsor the World Badminton Championship 2011 – Badminton News
Badminton Association of England (BAE) has accepted the offer of co-sponsorship from Gullivers Sports Travel (GST), for the mega event of the World Badminton Championship 2011.
The event will take place at the Wembley Indoor Arena London, England, from August 8-14.
GST will provide accommodation and transport facility to all the local and foreign players, who will participate in this event. It will also help players who will assist the participants in their training sessions. In addition to this, GST will also assist
in the media coverage and supporting staff, during the championship.
The firm is optimistic in their approach to support Badminton events in future as well. Account manager of GST, Kay Johnson said, “Working with Badminton England on such a prestigious event is a very exciting venture and we are looking forward to hosting
players and supporters alike from around the world.”
GST is the biggest sports tour operating company of UK, which primarily organises sports tours and festivals for the players of Rugby and Cricket. It also supports the events of these games at school, university and club level. However, for the first time
in their history, GST is supporting an important event of Badminton.
BAE is happy to find the support GST for the mega event in London. BAE’s commercial director, Fiona Young said, “We are really excited about the appointment of Gullivers Sports Travel and about starting the new era of badminton travel and hospitality.”
England is hosting the World Badminton Championship for the third time in the history of the event. However, the Wembley Indoor Arena of London is selected as the venue for the first time. The mega event at this venue will serve as a testing tournament,
as the same indoor hall will be used in the 2012 London Olympics.
GST’s support in this event is a positive step towards the promotion of Badminton in England. From now onwards, the shuttlers from all corners of the country will have a major supporter in the form of GST, which is also expected to become one of the main
sponsors for Badminton in the 2012 London Olympics.
