Question:

Gum Grafting?

Hi, I'm 15, 16 next month, and about a year ago, my dentist mentioned that I should get gum grafting on two of my upper teeth because of receding gums... before braces. He said that the braces would make it worst. When I went to the orthodontist a few months ago for a consultation, however, the ortho didn't mention it at all. He just said that I needed a labial frenectomy and 5 wisdom teeth removal. I was just wondering if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary that I get this done before braces, or could I just wait afterwards? I only have two crooked upper teeth, so my teeth won't shift much anyway. My parents are already flipping out over the cost of braces, and I really don't think they'll pay for this right now.

Thanks to all who answer!

  1. YOU SHOULD HAVE THIS NOW BECAUSE BRACES WILL ONLY MAKE THE RECESSION APPEAR WORSE.
