Question:

Gum grafting on receding gumlines?

I'm looking to find more information on gum grafting. My boyfriend's front bottom teeth have a pretty bad receding gumline, and I'm curious to find out that if gum grafting were necessary, about how much we may be looking to pay for it. It would probably be about 4 to 6 teeth on the bottom, 4 to 6 teeth on top. Any ideas?

  1. You are looking at $400-600 per tooth here. But it would be much less getting the procedure done overseas, around $100 per tooth. A visit to the link http://www.dentalcare-indiatour.com/dent... may help.

  2. Hi,

It depends on how many tissue sections (grafts) will be needed to cover all 8 - 12 teeth.

You might want to look at the following Yahoo! Answer :

    Hope this helps :)

  3. To answer your question about the necessity of the procedure - well, tissue grafting is considered and elective procedure, however if he is dedicated to maintaining this teeth for the rest of his life than this procedure is a good recommendation.  Anytime gum tissue recedes on a tooth, it loses more and more of the firm connective tissue, which protects the tooth from bacterial invasion from the mouth (and there are some pretty nasty bacterial floating around in there).  This is done with a piece of tissue taken from the palate.  If you have the stomach for this you can see slides of this procedure at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robert_goug...

Now as for the cost, this is very hard for me to judge.  Every zip code has different prices, but you are looking at anywhere between 1k and 2k for the whole procedure.  Hope this helped.
