My 15 year old daughter and I are having our first visit to Turkey on Sunday! Is it correct that I don't need Turkish Money because english is accepted everywhere? I'm feeling anxious about this! Has anyone any good tips for daytrips to take, cost and the best place for booking them? Many thanks, Amanda x

  1. they will take any kind or money in turkey!! take so £5 notes with you-this will be great at the market!

When your in gumbet get the dolmus (local bus-takes English £) to bodrum-the shopping is great. Gumbet’s it good but just slightly more touristy then bodrum. There’s a fantastic Chinese in gumbet called the red dragon, the workers are great and god its cheap!

To be honest I would not take more then £50 in Turkish Lire. Its so so easy to change up money in turkey around that area and you won’t get ripped off.

    Gumbet/bodrum are fantastic.

    Trips…

Dalaman is worth a visit for the mud baths and sight seeing.

Day trip to Kos…If you go they will offer you a tour of the town or you can do as you feel, go with the tour otherwise you will find your self in a pretty looking port!

They have dinner and shows in gumbet, the drag queen on is really good.

One bit of advise, if you or you party get ill and need a doctor…call the hotel doctor yourself and please by no means go to the hospital if you have a emergency. You must call the doctor yourself, tell him what you want and need-he will be fantastic and treat you better then you could imagine being treated in England but you must call the hotel doctor, not tell the reception you need to see someone. Have insurance or (god forbid) if your having a heart attack they wont even walk through the door-this especially applies to hospital staff not so much the private hotel doctor.

  2. YOU CAN USE ANY CURRENCY IN GUMBET. THERE ARE PLENTY OF CHANGE OFFICE ALL OVER BODRUM IF YOU WANT SOME TURKISH MONEY,

THE TURKISH BATH IS GREAT I SUGGEST THE ONE ACROSS FROM THE BODRUM BUS STATION THEY ARE A PROPER TURKISH BATH(HAMAM) NOT A TOURIST TRAP LIKE THE OTHERS.

THE TUGURTREIS SATURDAY OPEN MARKET IS GREAT  YOU CAN TAKE A DOLMUS NO NEED TO PAY FOR A TAXI.

BOAT TRIP IS A MUST I SUGGEST THE JOSHUA BRANDEN YACHT LOCATED IN BODRUM BY THE CASTLE GATE, THEY ARE PERFECT, GREAT FOOD AND NO HASSELING,

DON'T USE THE AGENTS SINCE THEY WILL OVER CHARGE YOU AND THE STREET AGENTS HAVE VERY LOW QUALITY PRODUCTS YOU CAN BOOK EVERYTHING ON YOU OWN.

YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME JUST RELAX AND ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE.
