Question:

Gums bleed badly when brushing teeth?

My 2 yr old son will not brush his teeth anymore. He used to let me brush them for him, then he would brush them himself. Now these past few days it's very hard to brush them, as he gets violent and won't let me brush them. I finally after 4 days kind of forced him to brush his teeth, and his gums just started bleeding all over, wherever I brushed them. Did this on the top, bottom, and sides. This has never happened before. Use very soft bristle toothbrush by Oral B or some other big name brand. Bought new brush to make sure it wasn't that, and it wasn't. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  1. Teeth are meant to last a lifetime. By taking good care of your teeth and gums, you can protect them for years to come. Tooth decay is not just a problem for children. It can happen as long as you have natural teeth in your mouth. Tooth decay ruins the enamel that covers and protects your teeth. When you don’t take good care of your mouth, bacteria can cling to your teeth and form a sticky, colorless film called dental plaque. This plaque can lead to tooth decay and cavities. Gum disease can also cause your teeth to decay. There is some correlation in the saying ‘getting long in the tooth’ with the associated wear and tear of age. However premature gum loss is normally caused by using a hard bristled toothbrush in combination with an improper ‘scrubbing’ toothbrush technique.

  2. If you are experiencing gums that bleed then you must know that bleeding gums are not normal.  In the early stage of gum disease which refers to gingivitis, gums usually appear red, swollen and easily bleeding.  At this stage the disease is still reversible, and can be eradicated by daily brushing and flossing with proper technique.  If the gum disease advances because it is left untreated, to a more serious stage called periodontitis, there is a serious damage to the gums and bones that support the teeth.  It a must to see a dental expert if you experience bleeding gums so that you will be advised and given the treatments that you may need once the dentist have finished checking your gum condition.

  3. try using toothpaste for sensitive teeth and gums, i dont know if they have it for kids they should look around

  4. um you may want to take him to the dentist.

  5. Sounds like gingivitis. It happens when you go periods of time without brushing and/or flossing or just not brushing good enough. As long as you keep consistent with his tooth brushing, it'll pass. The only way to get rid of it is to make sure you're getting all of the plaque off. He may pitch a fit, but, it will be worth it.

  6. brush too hard

  7. ginvavitas more than likely,.

  8. he probably has bad gums (recession i believe its called, but don't quote me on it). the less he brushes the worse his gums will get. you need to bring him to the dentist to get a teeth cleaning and hopefully he won't need a deep cleaning (not only will it be expensive, it is very painful). the only way his gums will be better is if he flosses, brushes, and rinses every day and night. unfortunately there is no easy way to make his gums healthy without going through this process. please do not feed him any sweets or candy, only rarely should he get these treats or else he will have a lot of dental problems growing up. since he is only 2, he might just be experiencing his loss of baby teeth and getting his adult teeth. just take him to the dentist and they'll be able to tell you what is wrong.
