Gumtree - have you ever been ripped off by them?

I placed a featured ad on Gumtree which cost me £5 for 3 days being featured. It disappeared without any indicated reason within 24 hours. I asked the Gumtree team to investigate, they apologised and said it was down to automatic ad sensoring software which made a mistake. It was on 2 days later, then removed within hours again for no reason.

I submitted a claim to Paypal which was later closed without any reason been given.

I am now closing my eBay and Paypal accounts

(as they're all owned by eBay). Have you had any similar experiences?

  1. no, but you should be more careful in future when it comes to making payments on the internet.

just cos a website is popular and well-known, doesnt mean it is completely reliable and secure.

  2. Hi the above answer is pointless and clueless to be fair! Most people would trust a reputable company like Ebay and Paypal to be honest. Gumtree stand in with this crowd and have done you wrong. If I were you I would get on the phone (emails are worthless sometimes) and have it out that way!!!! Get your monies worth you're entitled to it!!!
