Gun control question?

Okay, i was told to do a short public speaking thing in school, and i was given this topic: Social Issues. I'm going to cover one issue: Gun Control. But can someone please explain gun control to me? I need help.

For some, gun control is not allow the purchasing of certain types of guns. Do you really need a MAC-10 to hunt pheasants?

Gun Control is only a feel-good dog & pony show to fool people into thinking politicans are doing something about crime.  

Their agenda is only to get re-elected and get campaign money from Anti-American and anti-gun wackos like George Sorros.

Gun control has never reduced crime.  All it is, is an insurance policy for criminals.  

We have thousands of gun control laws on the books and they just keep producing more when the real way to reduce crime in to use and enforce the laws already in place now.  We don't need any more.  

Criminals love gun control.

Gun control is seen as a social issue because it is a controversy that affects society. There are two sides of the debate claiming the same outcome. The gun control proponents believe that passing strict gun laws is going to somehow prevent murderers from murdering people and the pro-gun advocates believe that guns will actually save more lives because then the law-abiding will be able to use them for self-defense.

You should google that. Gun Control to some is the ability to hit your target.

The fact of the matter is regulation. The powers that be insist that regulation of the number and type of firearm present in society will decrease the number of violent crimes. There are also some that belive that firearms should be banned from society all together and the right to bear arms be repealed.

I personally can see regulations regarding the type of firearm, the police don't need to be outgunned. However banning them totally will result in honest people being prey because when guns are outlawed only the outlaws will have guns.

It is a complicated subject that really can't be completely answered here, but I hope you get an idea and do well.

Rock H is right:  the topic should be called CRIME control...

criminals don't pay attention to ANY laws.

Gun control are actions taken by law makers (not all of them) that create, and implement new gun laws or restrictions. Restrictions from type of firearms to how many bullets it can have, to who can buy them and from where.

Gun control that is debated usually deals with some sort of ban and many legal gun owners are the only ones that are affected.

Criminals are not affected by Gun control since they are laws and criminals are criminals because the break laws.
