Question:

Gun license?

I want to buy a gun alter in my life and I am wondering how hard it is to get a license for it. How old do I have to be? Where can I freely shoot it around without the police bothering me? Is it against the law to be able to shoot it around in my house?

Where would I be able to engrave something into my gun ( a pistol to be exact)? All I ever see in gun shops are black guns, are there any silver ones around?(I know there is but what is the name of the pistol). I am looking for a pistol which has cartridges that has alot of ammo in them (more than 6) but with a low caliber so it won't be really powerful.

Sorry if some of this stuff doesn't make sense, I don't know much about guns and I just want to own one to practice my aim.

  1. In the US there is no requirement for a license to buy any firearm

Some states do require one though

you have to be 18 to own or posses a firearm ( long gun or handgun)

Some states set the age for handguns at 21 and a federally licensed dealer cannot sell a handgun to anyone under 21 but it is legal to buy one in private purchase or be given one as a gift at 18

Where you can shoot depends on your state some states have large expanses of dessert or landfills where you can freely shoot and some don't have any land available for that

It is typically illegal to shoot within 1000 feet of an occupied building or across a roadway

If you can find private land that does not pose a risk to others you can shoot there if your state or local laws do not say different

Many shops offer engraving services or have an engraver that they send work to

Smith and Wesson will laser engrave their guns for less than $65

    Hand engraving cost much more

Silver guns are available in pretty much any steel gun that you see in black

They are stainless steel, chromed or nickel plated

If you want more than 6 rou8nds you will pretty much be looking for a semi auto but there are some revolvers around with 7 or 8 rounds and 22s with 9

22, 38, or 9mm will be good first guns, depending on their job

For general target use a 22 will be the best for a newbie.

    For defense I would recommend a 38 or 357.

If you are stuck on a semi auto then a 9mm would be the best in reference to the expense of the ammo and the felt recoil

    =================

There is no law that says you cannot shoot in your own shooting range or on your own property as long as it does not endanger other

You cannot discharge a firearm in the city limit, but that would not count for a legitimate inside shooting range
