"Gundam Seed" certainly isn't aimed at younger children and would, as has already been noted, most likely bore anyone under 14 years of age. I have never seen an episode that featured explicit s*x, but characters do pair off. There is violence, but it is not romanticised nor is it thrown in each week to attract viewers who wouldn't watch if each episode didn't include violence. "Gundam Seed" is aimed at teens and younger adults, and while it doesn't contain much that would be inappropriate for someone over the age of ten, it probably wouldn't appeal to anyone whose attention span is short.

I think it's rated 14 and up because of the violence and war. But really, kids probably wouldn't find it that interesting and wouldn't understand all of the government factions, etc.
