Borussia Dortmund young midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is looking forward to take part in the crucial match against fierce rivals Bayern Munich next Saturday after sustaining an injury in his team’s 2-1 triumph over Mainz 05. The attacker
was also part of the national team squad for the 2012 European Championships.
The youngster was replaced in the 31st minute following a collision with Mainz player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikolce-Noveski-c28026, and is probably out for the league game with Fortuna Dusseldorf on Tuesday. However, he is expecting to be back in
action to face Der FCB next weekend.
The 22-year-old claimed that Noveski did not intentionally hurt him, it was just a coincidence. He stated that his first reaction was that there would be swelling, but when he got up and tried to run he was sure that he would not
be able to continue playing.
"Noveski didn't mean to injure me, it was an unintentional result. At first I thought it would just be sore, but after getting back up and trying to run on it I realised that I would have to come off,” he mused.
The central midfielder player suggested he is unsure of the extent of the lay-off, but is eyeing for a quick recovery. He is now eagerly anticipating returning to Dortmund, and wishes the team luck in their match against Dusseldorf
in mid-week.
"We don't know the extent of the damage yet, but I hope that it isn't that bad. All we can do now is wait until we return to Dortmund. Obviously, the match against Bayern Munich [next Saturday] is a highlight, a real showdown, but we must first focus on our
game against Dusseldorf on Tuesday,” he finally added.
Ilkay is desperate to be back in time for Bayern clash and will be hoping to beat them to close the gap at the top of the league table. Dortmund are currently second in the Bundesliga table, nine points behind Der FCB.
