  1. I had a two of them once. Scruffy and Smudgy.

They were both girls from the same litter. You should really get 2 instead of one. That way it's twice the fun and they keep each other company when you're not around to.

Mine had a little wooden hutch. Its cost about $85.

They each had a harness so they could go for little walks around the backyard. They LOVE grass! Some do p**p alot though. Not all of them.

They're really sweet and caring animals.

The males and females are just as good as each other.

    Names?

I like the more strange names such as:

    Dakota

    Willow

    Oak

    Clover

    Anastasia

    Sadie

    Claudia

Now and then give them some apple and carrots as a treat.

Good luck with your Guinea Pigs!  =]

  2. Rescue a guinea pig from a shelter-theyre usually free(perhaps a small donation fee) and theyre usually spayed/neutered too!

  3. Please don't ever use a harness/leash on a guinea pig. It is horrible for their spine. Save your money and build them a playpen out of your leftover cubes if you want to give them time outside, but ALWAYS supervise.

  4. Guinea pigs are not easy pets to care for, but they are VERY rewarding. Here are a few websites to check out:

    www.guinealynx.com

    www.cavyspirit.com

    www.cavycages.com

You need to get TWO guinea pigs of the same s*x, for starters. Do NOT go to a pet store unless you enjoy your guinea pigs having URIs, mites, & lice. Believe me, it's not fun. Check petfinder to find out if any guinea pigs near you are in local shelters or rodent rescues. The cavycages website should explain about C&C cages, an easy-to-build, affordable type of caging that allows the guinea pigs to have a suitable amount of room for exercise. Guinea pigs require near daily laptime & floortime to keep them stimulated and happy. They need daily vegetables, unlimited timothy hay, & a good quality pellet, such as Oxbow. A local exotic vet should always be available in case of a health emergency, as guinea pigs are very fragile animals and go downhill very quickly.

  5. You need to know they eat LOTS and make sure you pick them up daily otherwise they will get really anxious about being picked up and go rogue on you
