  1. They sell guinea pigs in most pet stores - definitely Petsmart and Petco. However, I'd highly recommend adopting pigs rather than buying them. They are often healthier than the pigs in pet stores, and they are most likely better socialized - pet store guinea pigs have had very little human contact and it takes a while for them to come around, but pigs from rescues and foster homes have been handled more.

Check http://www.petfinder.com/ for guinea pigs in your area. There may be some in your local shelters, or there may even be a rescue group in your area. My local guinea pig rescue group lets you visit to meet all the pigs and find out which one is best suited for your home.

Plus, you'd be saving a life!

  2. yes they do but why would you want one there boring get a rat!

  3. Yes, they do sell them in petsmart, petco, petland, and just about any other pet store. But a real good deed if you want a guinea pig is to adopt. There is nothing wrong with the guinea pigs in shelters and they are equally cute and even more loving as they know you saved them. I hope you know they arn't easy pets though! They need lots of space see cavycages.com and they need a buddy they can die of depression and lonliness so two or more is defiantly the best choice they also need daily hay, veggies, and guinea pig pellets. A great place to learn more is cavycages.com I can't stress it enough to do your research. Good luck with your new babie(s)?? :DD

  4. Yes.Look up guniea pigs in yahoo or google. They will bring up pet stores in your area.Good luck!:D

  5. Yes, they do; however, the best place to get a piggie (or two!) is from a local guinea pig rescue or a shelter. Most often, guinea pigs in large pet store chains have illness, parasites, or both. A reputable rescue will have already quarantined and screened the piggies for illness and parasites. You are almost guaranteed a healthy animal.

Call your local animal shelter and ask if they have any piggies. If not, ask if they could give you the names of some local rescues.

    Check on http://www.petfinder.com/

Also check on http://www.craigslist.org/ and http://www.guineapighome.com/  Sometimes there are piggies on these sites that are needing to be re-homed.

    Good luck!

  6. Yes, Petco does too.  You could go to your local animal shelter and adopt one, or look in adds in the newspaper!

  7. Adopt : www.petfinder.com

    www.guineapighome.com

Don't support a pet mill or breeding. Besides you will likely get a sick pet.

  8. Yes, but instead go to your local shelter and rescue a guinea pig from there-it might even be cheaper and you would not only be saving a life but also know that you got a healthy pet :)

-You could also try petfinder.com to see where the nearest shelter is or to find a specific guinea pig

  9. Before I knew better, I bought my guinea pig from PetSmart. He had ringworm, mites, and an URI. A few more days in there, he'd have been dead. Over $200 later in vet bills and 3 months later, I finally got rid of those sicknesses. He, however, still is not the healthiest pig. After months of complaining to their corporate offices, they finally reimbursed me for my vet bills. It's a sad reality, please don't support it!

It's all about the money, not the animals.

There are soooo many pigs that are in shelters and rescues that need homes desperately. Pet store pigs are often sold sick and neglected. They are kept in small, inadequate cages, and fed c**p. 99.99% of pet store pigs have mites. Yeah, if you complain enough or threaten to call the ASPCA, they MIGHT take a dying pig to the vet. Otherwise, they don't.

Petsmart, petco, any other pet store- They are all the same. If they are seliing them or getting them from breeders, they all are wrong.

  10. petco

    polly's petshop

  11. ADOPT!!! GO TO petfinder.com

put in your area and if you can't find a seller close to you, go to your lacal animal shelter...I'm sure they have guinea pigs there too, but they do have them at petsmart, but please adopt!!  :P

  12. Yes they do.  Most pet stores sell them.  They cost around $35.  I agree with another answerer.  Go to an animal shelter and give one a good home.

  13. Please look into adopting one from a rescue or shelter. Check out the link below to find a rescue.
