Guns used in Vietnam war?

i watch the Movie tropic thunder about a week ago and they were using an M4 Carbine. i know they used M16, just did they have M4 Carbines back then cuz then the movie people messed up

It wasn't an M4, it was it's predecessor the CAR-15, which was used until the M4 came about, although there was Delta Operators still using the CAR-15 in Somilia in 93(and they get first choice when it comes to weapons).

yes rare to see but yeah, the soviets actually supplied the vietnamese with some of those guns too

the m4 was introduced in either 1992 or 94 so no absolutely not, and that movie isnt meant to be historically accurate.and the m16 they used then were terrible weapons they should have stayed with m14 until the design could be revised, the m16a2 was the first good version i think most vietnam vets would tell you they didnt like those "toy" weapons they were issued.
