The former West Germany international has tipped Die Mannschaft to win Euro 2012 despite poor performances in international friendlies recently.
Joachim Low’s side had an exceptional qualifying campaign for the Euro 2012 last year when they won all the ten games played to win their group. However, the form has not been the same of late as they won only one of the three
friendly fixtures after that. The team lost two games against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and Switzerland but won their latest fixture against Israel last week.
Netzer feels that Germany are still the favourites to win the competition despite their displays in the friendly games recently. He admitted that the humiliating loss to Switzerland last month has done no harm to the team’s status.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach player added that the friendly games give the opportunity to try different combinations and tactics which is why there is nothing to worry about.
“The friendlies against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Israel-c2925 have not done anything to change Germany's status as one of the favourites to win Euro 2012. They remain one of the teams to beat. The 5-3 loss against the Swiss obviously gave food
for thought, but I don't see any reasons to be worried. These friendlies are used to try new things,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 67-year old stressed that Die Mannschaft have great quality and immense talent in their squad and is confident of the team’s chances in Europe’s premier international competition. However, he admitted that the path to success
will not be easy as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 have been drawn in one of the toughest groups of Euro 2012.
“I still think that Germany have what it takes to reach the final, just like I said before the warm-up friendlies. However, one thing's for sure and that's that it will be a long and rocky road to the show-piece,” he concluded.
Joachim Low’s men will kick start the proceedings to the competition against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884.
