Guntur Perdana finds a perfect start at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 – Badminton news
Indonesia’s Guntur Perdana started his run in a successful manner as he toppled Erick Eriawan in Men’s Singles first round Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Indonesia, on Tuesday, May 15.
Guntur, who is seeded at number 6 in Men’s Singles main draw of the event, showed his class and trounced his compatriot Eriawan in an inspiring fashion.
The higher ranked Indonesian was amazing in the court when he put up strong show of top quality badminton and remained successful in winning the match in straight games while taking just 50 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Eriawan tried to match the speed of his rival in the opening game but failed and lost it easily.
However, he put up good show in second set and remained close but could not dominate rallies in ending stage and lost the match with a respectable margin on the board.
In the first set, Guntur started his run in a positive manner as he took an early lead while playing aggressive badminton.
The sixth seeded Indonesian was in full control in opening half of first game and took a tremendous lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Guntur continued his elevated run against Eriawan who remained struggling to take the bird early.
The higher ranked Indonesian remained positive and in the court and managed to win the first set with a superb margin of 21-14.
In the second set, Eriawan changed his style of play and became aggressive in the court. He was awesome this time in his shot selection and also placed his strokes accurately.
Until the interval, both men remained close on the score board as they were playing at the same level.
After the one-minute break, they continued snapping each other’s heel by keeping the pace of rallies fast and reached at the crucial stage of 20-20.
At this stage, Guntur played a few fascinating shots in right areas and grabbed two consecutive points to finish the game with a tight margin of 22-20.
The higher ranked Guntur won this first round battle in 50 minutes with a 21-14 and 22-20 score on the board.
