Guo Yan and Ding Ning qualify for Women’s Singles final at Harmony 2011 China Open
The top four Chinese women players fought hard before Guo Yan and Ding Ning emerged as the two finalists defeating Xiaoxia and Guo Yue at the Harmony 2011 China Open. Both games extended up to the seven sets as the top four Chinese players fought for their
positions at the finals.
Guo Yan defeated Xiaoxia as the game was stretched to the final set with the scores: 5-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 3-11, 11-6 and 11-6 whereas Ding Ning won the game with a much closer finish with the following scores: 6-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 and 13-11.
Ding Ning faced the defeat by the hands of Guo Yue as she was done by the speed who despite of losing the match agreed the fact that it was one of the greatest matches. She also mentioned that Guo Yue did not gave her many chances to dominate the game as
she said, “It was truly a great semi-final, both Ding Ning and I played some terrific table tennis today; I guess I thought too much when I had a match point.”
Guo Yan mentioned that despite being down two sets she knew that she can come back in the game and treated the match as a team practice session and further added that her win is amongst only the few at the Suzhou.
Xiaoxia was seen uncomfortable during the game as she slipped a couple of times as she stated, “I failed to make the most use of my opportunities when leading three-two. Somehow my shoes did not stick to my feet during the match, making me a bit uncomfortable.”
Moreover Zhang Jike and Ma Lin have defeated Ma Long and Wang Hao to win the Men’s Doubles Harmony China Open on 2011 as the game was stretched to maximum six sets with the following scores: 12-14, 11-7, 16-14, 11-13, 11-9, 6-11 and 11-5.
It was not the first time that the four players have played in the teams to compete with each other as in February 2011 partnership of Zhang Jike and Ma Lin has defeated Ma Long and Wang Hao at the United Arab Emirates Open.
Wang Hao commented that they have all played against each other and know each other pretty well and there are no secrets amongst the four players. He mentioned that he is happy with his and Ma Long’s performance and enjoyed the tight final game.
Zhang Jike was the only player out of the four who has never been on the Number one position on the Men’s World ranking but never the less he is the current World Champion.
