My guppy was pregnant and it started giving birth so i moved it into the net breeder so the babies would be in it, so how can i keep the guppy from eating her babies before i can move her out of the net, or should i not have her in the net and just let the babies be born in the tank.

  1. i wouldnt leave her in the net put her in a seperate aquaiurm. fishes tend to eat their fry.

  2. I remember so many times the mother guppy would eat her babies. If you leave them in the tank the other fish will. I am not familiar with a net breeder but we used to have a floating container that let the babies sink to the bottom part and the mom couldnt get to them.

  3. there is a birthing tank, small , just big enough for the mother. it has a  "v " shaped insert. this allows the mother to give birth and the babies fall to the bottom and dont get back in with the mother. because she will eat them. when shes done you take her out and take out the insert and the babies stay in it. or.. if you let her give birth in the tank. you need a lot of plants in the tank for them to hide in . there is also a fake grass you put on the bottom, that the babies will hide in till they grow. but you will lose a few this way.

  4. You have a breeding tank for babies only.

Use breeding net (floating in breeding tank) and the small squares on the net should be large enough for babies to swim out. That ways, parents guppy will stay inside the breeding net. Then the babies will be safe.

  5. when i had guppies, i just let them be in the tank with others, some of the babies probably got eaten but loads survived, they hid in the floating water plants. I started with two guppies and within a year had so many i couldnt even count them!
